Joining ISKD

You’re Always Welcome – Join Now!

Beginners are encouraged to join practice sessions each Monday, Wednesday and Friday- practice starts at 7:00 pm. Need more information? Just show up at the dojo or contact one of our instructors.

YOUTH (7 to 17)- we only take new (never practiced kendo) youth members twice a year, to develop as a group.  There is no cost, but youth must be registered via the “League App” that the Sheriffs uses for membership.  We do accept new youth who have kendo experience any time of the year.  The link is below.  Please contact us (industrysheriffkendo@gmail.com) for more information & timing.

Adults (18+)- Cost for adults is $15/month for one person, plus another $5/month for each additional family member. You must sign up on League Apps (see below), and you must be ok with the sheriffs doing a background check.  There is also an annual fee to be paid to the AUSKF and SCKF, which we can explain when you join. The dojo provides you everything you need to start- shinai & bokken. All you need are loose fitting clothes, bare feet, and a great attitude!

REQUIRED:

AUSKF Liability Release Form
(Please complete the liability release form and bring to the dojo. Thanks!)

FEES/COSTS:
All youth will be registered at no charge with the SCKF and AUSKF, our governing federations.  All members 18 and over must self-register with the SCKF & AUSKF.  Since their rates are subject to change, suggest that you please check the site below for costs.

AUSKF/SCKF Dues

**Note that anyone under 18 and living in the area, as of now, per the Industry Sheriffs YAL, pays no dues – practice is free! You will also never have to worry about buying a shinai or bokken – the dojo provides!  Same with hakama & keikogi- the dojo will provide an initial set plus replacements as youth grow, all at no charge.
**ISKD, with the help of the Industry Sheriffs YAL, also provides bogu when available for those kenshi who can’t quite afford a set on their own. Please speak with a sensei for details.

Thank You, Industry YAL!
